OTRC: 'BUCKWILD' star Shain Gandee found dead at age 21, MTV 'shocked,' 'saddened'

Shain Gandee, a 21-year-old cast member of the MTV reality show "BUCKWILD," was found dead in a vehicle in his native West Virginia on Monday, April 1, 2013.

He and his 48-year-old uncle, David Gandee, were reported missing overnight for 31 hours and were last seen at a bar in the town of Sissonville around 3 a.m. They said they were going four-wheeling in Shain's 1984 Ford Bronco, the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said. They did not reveal their destination.

The bodies of both men and a third person -- later identified as family friend Robert Myers, 27, were found in a vehicle on a rural road in the Sissonville area, local ABC affiliate WCHS reported, quoting Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper. The cause of their deaths was not revealed. The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said before the bodies were discovered that no foul play was suspected at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

MTV News quoted Kanawha County Sheriff's Department Corporal Brian Humphreys as saying that the vehicle was located in an area that is very remote and inaccessible by police vehicles, which prompted investigators to use ATV's to gain access to the site. He added that there did not appear to be signs of any other vehicles in the area.
