Sarah Chalke is moving in -- with her parents?
The 36-year-old actress spoke with OTRC.com about her role as a down-on-her-luck, divorced mother on "How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life)," a new comedy series premiering this week on ABC.
"It's the part I can relate to the most out of anything I played, 'cause I'm a new mom," said Chalke, who is the mother of a 3-year-old son. "And definitely being a working mom, you're trying to balance your whole life and be the best mom in the world and be good at your job and for [my character] Polly, she's out there trying to date as well and juggle all of these balls."
On the series, her character is forced by the recession to move in with her parents, played by Elizabeth Perkins of "Weeds" fame and Brad Garrett, known for his role as the deep-voiced brother on "Everybody Loves Raymond." According to Chalke, Garrett is a natural comedian on set.
"Brad comes from standup and has us in stitches all the time," said Chalke, who first rose to fame as the second actress to play Becky Connor on "Roseanne." "Like, he'll do his scene where he has to wear a towel and drop it and has this sort of privacy patch that he's wearing and then explains what that was like on the way back to the trailers. And he's ridiculously funny."
Chalke, who is Canadian-born and speaks German fluently, is also known for her roles as Dr. Elliot Reed on 'Scrubs' and Stella Zinman on "How I Met Your Mother."
"How To Live With Your Parents" also stars Rachel Eggleston as Polly's daughter and Canadian comedian Jon Dore as Polly's ex-husband. It airs on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
