At 54, Tom Arnold is now the father of a baby boy.
The comedian announced the news on Twitter. His son, Jax Copeland Arnold, weighed in at 8 pounds and 12 ounces at birth. According to People magazine, Arnold and his wife, Ashley Groussman, welcomed their first child on Saturday, April 6.
Arnold Tweeted on Saturday, "Game Changer: Jax Copeland Arnold. 8lbs 12oz. Looking forward to being a 70 year old Little League Coach."
In a joint statement to People, Arnold and his wife said they were "still in a bit of shock" and added, "It has been a long journey and the healthy birth of our son is a miracle."
The actor first announced that he and Groussman were expecting in January during his appearance on "The View." His announcement can be seen below. During the announcement, Arnold said the baby was conceived through in vitro fertilization.
"We're really happy. I didn't think it was in the cards for me, I'll be honest, and so I was completely shocked," Arnold said at the time. "It's a miracle."
Arnold and Groussman wed in 2009 in a ceremony in Maui. Actor Dax Shepard was his best man. Arnold was candid about the fertility issues he experienced and admitted, "I have a very low sperm count."
He later added, "I've tried with other people, but since there is a God we were unable to conceive. Now God said, 'This is it!'"
Arnold is likely best known for his role in the film "True Lies" and appearing on the comedy series "Roseanne." He has also had roles in films like "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star," "Sons of Anarchy" and "Franklin & Bash."
