Authorities probe possible links to 72-year-old transient, national cold case murders

LOS ANGELES

Samuel Little is awaiting trial in Los Angeles. He is facing charges for his alleged involvement in at least three cold murder cases dating back to 1989.

Los Angeles investigators tracked down Little to a shelter in Kentucky after DNA evidence at old crime scenes matched samples of his stored in a criminal database.

Now, numerous jurisdictions in California, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Mississippi and Ohio Several states are running their own checks.

Little's more than 100-page rap sheet details crimes in 24 states spread over 56 years. Those crimes were mostly assault, burglary, armed robbery, shoplifting and drug violations. Authorities say he has only served less than 10 years in prison.
