Roger Ebert honored at Chicago funeral

CHICAGO

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Ebert's former Chicago Sun-Times boss John Barron spoke at the funeral. Ebert's widow, Chaz Ebert, also spoke, remembering her late husband as a "soldier for social justice." Ebert's stepdaughter, Sonia Evans, remembered him as "a world-class human being."

Ebert died Thursday, two days after announcing he was undergoing radiation treatment for a recurrence of cancer. He was 70.

Ebert spent almost a half a century writing about movies. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, but details have not been finalized.
