Lisa Vanderpump had a busy week practicing her upcoming routine for "Dancing With The Stars" and doing promotional work for her Bravo series. All the travelling and work burned her out on Thursday, April 4, when she fainted while rehearsing with partner Gleb Savchenko.
The 52-year-old "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and "Vanderpump Rules" star blogged about the experience for People magazine and explained that after the April 2 "Dancing With The Stars: The Results Show" episode was over, she and Savchenko jetted of to New York City for media appearances. The two landed at 6 a.m. ET and went right to rehearsing for the next routine for six hours.
Vanderpump writes she later attended the Bravo Upfronts party until around 11 p.m. and then went to her hotel to sleep after dinner. Both Vanderpump and Savchenko were up at 6 a.m. the following day to prepare a dance for their appearance on "Live with Kelly and Michael." After another six hours of rehearsal following their talk show appearance, the two flew back to Los Angeles.
"By the time Thursday rehearsals rolled around -- let's just say I was exhausted and everything felt off," she wrote. "Gleb and I were rehearsing our cha Cha and suddenly I just blacked out."
Vanderpump writes that she has only fainted once before and that when she woke up, "I was in shock." After being examined by a doctor it was discovered that Vanderpump had a viral infection, a fever and swollen glands.
"And between trying to fight that and all of the stress on my body from running around, I ended up with low blood pressure and a rapid heart rate, which is why I fainted," she added. "I am still fighting the bug and feeling under the weather but I am staying in the game as long as they say I can. And I will give it my best!"
Savchenko Tweeted out support to Vanderpump on Monday, writing, "Just wanted to send my support to @Lisavanderpump, who is a great dancer and an exceptional lady - you make me proud, no matter what.#DWTS."
When she and Savchenko hit the dance floor on Monday, April 8, they'll be performing the Cha Cha. She might need to give it her all in order to say in the competition. Last week, Vanderpump and Savchenko were in jeopardy after the two received 21 out of 30 from the judges for their Viennese Waltz on "Dancing With The Stars" on April 1.
After the April 2 elimination, Vanderpump talked to OTRC.com about the caring and supportive environment on the show.
"There's so much camaraderie and friendliness and we're all very supportive, but I think we've had our down moments as well," she said. "I mean most of the time it's really joyous there isn't it? And then we get frustrated and you know, it's been difficult for all of us."
