OTRC: Kevin Hart arrested on suspicion of DUI, Tweets about arrest

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on early Sunday, April 14, in Los Angeles.

The 33-year-comedian was pulled over by police after his black Mercedes nearly collided with a tanker truck on Highway 101, according to The Associated Press.

Authorities told the wire service Hart appeared intoxicated when he was pulled over and Hart had also been driving erratically over 90 mph on the highway. A female passenger in Hart's car was sent home in a taxi.

Hart failed a field sobriety test and was booked for misdemeanor DUI at 5:59 a.m. He was taken to a jail in Van Nuys and released after paying a $5,000 bond. Hart's court date is set for May 9.

The comedian addressed his arrest on Twitter on Sunday.

"I did 6,000 push ups & 13,000 sit ups while I was in the pin....shout out to my celly 'Mark' we exchanged war stories LMFAO," Hart wrote at 11:36 a.m. PT on April 13.

"When the cop asked me to take the sobriety test I said 'WHY WASTE OUR TIME...I'M DRUNK MAN' ..... #TrueStory," he added in another Tweet.

The comedian later wrote that he was remorseful about the arrest and wrote that "drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter" and noted that "people have lost lives" because of it.

"This is a wake up call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn't....everything happens for a reason," he wrote.

Hart is known for roles in "Think Like A Man," "Modern Family," and "The Five-Year Engagement." He currently stars in "Real Husbands of Hollywood." Hart also starred in the 2011 stand-up special "Laugh At My Pain."

The comedian is the father of two children, daughter Heaven, 7, and son Hendrix, 5, with ex-wife Torrie Hart. The two wed in 2003 and split in February 2010.
