Faith Hill's "Waiting All Day For Sunday Night" will no longer be used as the theme song of NBC's "Sunday Night Football" broadcasts.

An NBC Sports spokesperson told OTRC.com on Monday, April 15, that it was the country singer's decision. Hill, 45, and her track, a cover of rocker Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' "I Hate Myself For Loving You," had been featured in a promo for the Sunday NFL games since 2007. The new NFL season begins in September.

Amazing 2 have been part of SNF - an honor. I've just let everyone there know it's time 2 let someone else rock the open," Hill Tweeted on Monday. "... Difficult decision. Kinda emotional. Love all u guys at SNF - I'll b watching!!!"

Hill did not elaborate. NBC has not yet announced a replacement singer and song.

"Faith Hill is family to all of us at 'Sunday Night Football,' lead producer Fred Gaudelli said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. "For the last six seasons and two Super Bowls her opening performance of 'Waiting All Day' set the tone for 'SNF' and became a television staple. We will always be grateful for her performances and friendship. We wish Faith nothing but continued success."

Earlier this year, Hill's track and promo was parodied on the Comedy Central show "South Park." In 2010, Jane Lynch spoofed it in a skit on "Saturday Night Live." Watch the latter clip below.
