OTRC: Ozzy Osbourne on Sharon split reports: No divorce, he had drug relapse

Ozzy Osbourne has responded to recent reports that say he and Sharon Osbourne, his wife of some 30 years, have split, saying that the two are not divorcing and that a recent drug and alcohol relapse had caused him to behave badly towards his loved ones.

The 64-year-old heavy metal rocker has battled substance abuse for years. While Ozzy and his family did invite cameras into their home for their hit reality show, which aired between 2002 and 2005, he usually does not speak publicly about his personal life. However, he issued a rare personal statement on his Facebook page late on Monday to respond to the breakup reports.

Ozzy said the following:

"For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an a------ to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober.

Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I'm just trying to be a better person.

I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my band mates for my insane behavior during this period........and my fans.

God Bless,

Ozzy, who has been to rehab multiple times throughout his life for drug and alcohol addictions, did not elaborate about his treatment plan for his recent relapse. Sharon has not commented. The two have three children, including Kelly and Jack, who have also been treated for substance addiction in the past.

Ozzy, nicknamed the Prince of Darkness, and Sharon, his manager, wed in Hawaii in 1982, several years after the rocker was fired from heavy metal group Black Sabbath after squabbling with his band mates and amid a battle with substance abuse. He concentrated on a solo career and reunited with the group several times from 1985 to 2005.

A new reunion with took place in 2011 although drummer Bill Ward left in 2012. Ozzy plans to tour with band mates Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler later this year and release a new album titled "13" in June. It the the group's first major record in 35 years.
