Don Draper has finally met his match, and it's not at the end of a Lucky Strike cigarette.
Jon Hamm appears alongside Elmo in a recently released YouTube video, which is scheduled to air on the "Word of the Day" segment for "Sesame Street" on PBS this week.
In the clip, the "Mad Men" actor attempts to describe the meaning of the word "sculpture" for young viewers, while a bereted Elmo chisels away at his own stone creation. Despite prompting from Hamm, the red-furred puppet is not quite ready to show off his work.
"Elmo's not done right now," said Elmo, in the YouTube video. "Maybe Mr. Jon can show some other sculpture while Elmo finishes."
In response, the 42-year-old actor carts out a succession of sculptures made from materials of clay, marble and metal. Each sculpture is heavier than its predecessor, which gives Hamm an opportunity to ham up his comic acting skills.
The light-hearted role is a stark change of pace from his enigmatic and adulterous "Mad Men" character, Don Draper. But Elmo has a surprise twist of his own at the video's conclusion.
The segment is scheduled to air on April 18 on PBS.
