Chris Hemsworth strikes quite the pose in a new and flashy teaser poster for "Thor: The Dark World."
The actor reprises his role as the blonde, long-haired god of thunder, also dubbed the Mighty Avenger, in the sequel to Marvel's 2011 blockbuster. He is seen in the poster staring intently as he uses his powerful hammer, Mjolnir, in a brilliant blue lightning storm, complete with snow and flying debris.
"Thor: The Dark World" also sees Natalie Portman reprising her role as Thor's love interest, Jane. Anthony Hopkins returns as his father, Odin, and Tom Hiddleston is back as Loki, his enemy and adoptive brother. Newcomers include Zachary Levi of the show "Chuck" and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje of "LOST" and "Oz" fame.
In "Thor: The Dark World," Thor must again try to save Earth, this time from an evil, ancient race of Dark Elves led by the vengeful Malekith, played by Christopher Eccleston.
The movie is set for release on Nov. 8 and takes place after the event of "The Avengers." The hit 2012 film featured Thor and a slew of superheroes, including Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr., who reprises his role in the franchise's third installment, "Iron Man 3," which will be released on May 3.
The first "Thor" film made more than $449 million in global box office sales. "The Avengers," which will also receive a sequel, has earned more than $1.5 billion.
