LAX electronic monitor accidentally posts emergency message

LOS ANGELES

The flight-status signs began reading "Emergency Leave The Terminal' around 9:47 p.m.

The audible alarm did not sound and there were no reports of anyone leaving the terminal during the mishap.

An airline contractor with access to the display system was programming a set of monitors when he mistakenly activated the evacuation message.

The message was removed from all the monitors by 9:54 p.m. after staff discovered the mistake.

Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles says the airport's Information Technology staff is working to ensure this doesn't happen again.
