Chaz Bono, Cher's son, says he has lost 60 pounds and has detained several of his diet and weight loss techniques.
Bono, 44, had said on the syndicated daytime show "The Doctors" in November that he wanted to lose weight and has struggled with it since he was in his 20s, when he was a woman. He had begun his gender transition in 2008 and changed his name from Chastity to Chaz in 2010.
Bono told People magazine at the recent 2013 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles that he has lost 60 pounds since November. He said on "The Doctors" he lost 43 pounds in three months with the help of the Freshology meal delivery plan.
He told People that he also avoids grains and starches and eats mainly meat, fruit and vegetables. He also said he takes classes in martial arts and dancing.
The 2013 GLAAD Media Awards honored former President Bill Clinton with the Advocate for Change Award for his support for marriage equality in New York in 2011. Same-sex marriages were legalized in the state in June of that year.
Bono told OTRC.com that Clinton is one of his heroes.
"I would really compare President Clinton to President Kennedy with the Civil Rights Movement," Bono said. "Both weren't able to get the legislation passed during their time in office but both cared deeply about the plight of those individuals and President Obama wouldn't be able to be doing the things that he's been able to do if it wasn't for President Clinton and the changes that he started while he was in office."
