For Poppy Montgomery, spring is officially in bloom.
The "Unforgettable" star gave birth to Violet Grace Devereux Sanford on Monday, April 22, according to People. The proud father is her boyfriend, Shawn Sanford, a marketing director at Microsoft.
The healthy baby girl weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounches, and was measured at 19.5 inches long. Montgomery is also mother to a 5-year-old son, Jackson Phillip Devereaux, from a past relationship with actor Adam Kaufman.
Violet is the latest blossom in a family of florally named women, including her mother Poppy Petal and her aunts Daisy Yellow, Rosie Thorn, Lily Belle and Marigold Sun.
"We are overjoyed with the arrival of our beautiful angel and filled with gratitude that she is happy, healthy and thriving," Montgomery and Sanford told People. The couple have been dating since late 2011.
The 37-year-old actress currently plays the role of Detective Carrie Wells on the CBS mystery series "Unforgettable." She is also known for her portrayal of FBI Agent Samantha Spade on the CBS drama "Without a Trace," which ran from September 2002 to May 2009.
Montgomery also maintains a blog with People, in which she discusses various issues related to pregnancy and motherhood. In her most recent entry on February 21, the actress detailed the stress associated with cravings and exercise routines, and how pregnancy had become "an endless list of 'can'ts' and 'don'ts.'" She concluded on a note that was highly anticipatory of Violet's birth.
"I lift a tiny glass of chilled rosé to all mothers and mothers-to-be out there!," the actress posted. "To fat, to water-balloon feet, to having to pee every five seconds, to the heartburn, the charley horses and the restless legs, to bizarrely vivid dreams and of course, to those tiny heels that jab under the diaphragm."
"May Eileithyia, goddess of childbirth and labor pains, be always on our side!"
