Hollywood heartthrob Channing Tatum of "Magic Mike" fame may get to showcase his dancing skills again on the big screen and this time, he may sing as well.
He and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who are both 32, have been tapped to star in a new film adaptation of "Guys and Dolls," according to a recent Deadline report. The first musical movie, based on a Broadway musical, was released in 1955 and starred Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando as smooth-talking, New York City gamblers and ladies' men.
Deadline reported that rights to the new film project were acquired by Twentieth Century Fox, adding that no director or writer has been announced. The studio and the actors have not commented.
"Guys and Dolls" contains songs such as "Luck Be A Lady" and "Adelaide's Lament." Actors such as Peter Gallagher, Nathan Lane and actresses such as Lauren Graham and Faith Prince have appeared in Broadway revivals, while "Dirty Dancing" star Patrick Swayze, another pro-dancer, played main character Nathan Detroit in a London production in 2006, three years before his death.
Tatum, a real-life former exotic dancer dubbed "Sexiest Man Alive" of 2012 by People magazine, showcased his dancing skills in the "Step Up" movies and in the 2012 male stripper drama "Magic Mike" (watch videos) but has never sung on the big screen before.
Gordon-Levitt showed off his moves in the 2009 movie "500 Days Of Summer." He has also danced with Zooey Deschanel in a music video for her band She & Him. The actor is also a guitarist and has performed with her as well as on his own. Both he and Tatum danced on stage at the 2013 Oscars.
Tatum and Gordon-Levitt have worked on several movies together. The list includes "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "Havoc" and "Stop-Loss." Tatum also has a part in "Don Jon," Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut. It is set for release on October 18 and stars Tony Danza as the actor's father.
Tatum had said in late December he planned to take a break from acting. His wife, Jenna, is currently pregnant with their first child. She -- and Tatum -- showed off her baby bump at the 2013 Oscars, which Gordon-Levitt also attended - watch videos below).
