Kirstin Cavallari opened up in a new interview with CoCo Eco magazine for its April/May 2013 issue about turning down acting jobs in favor of staying close to her fiance, NFL player Jay Cutler, and her young son.
Cavallari, who gained fame on reality series "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills," also talked to the magazine about her new professional pursuits and moving from Los Angeles to Chicago, where Cutler resides. Cutler is a quarterback for the Chicago Bears.
"I've passed on a couple of things [acting jobs] that would have kept me here in LA because my fiance Jay has to be in Chicago, so if I was here we would never see each other. The sacrifices we make for love," the 26-year-old said.
Cutler, 30, and Cavallari initially announced their engagement in April 2011 after the two took a trip to Cabo San Lucas. The couple later called off their engagement in July 2011. The pair reunited in September 2011 and Cutler was spotted in the "Dancing With The Stars" audience, where Cavallari was competing as a constant on the show.
Cavallari then announced in November 2011 that she and Cutler were engaged once again on her official Twitter page, writing: "This time its official. Jay and I are engaged again :)."
The couple later welcomed their first child, a son named Camden Jack, in August 2012.
As for her acting career, Cavallari has had guest roles on shows like "The Middle," "CSI: NY," "Cane" and "Veronica Mars."
"I think you have to have a good balance," she told Coco Eco magazine. "It's easy to get wrapped up in your career and have that be your only focus and I want my marriage (when we do get married) to work and last, and family comes first."
Cavallari is keeping busy with designing a shoe line with Chinese Laundry and she recently launched a jewelry collection.
"The design work is great because I can do most of it from Chicago, and I have so much fun with it. I love it and it all works out," she said.
The former reality star also told that magazine that she and Cutler are planning a wedding soon.
"All I'll say is we're planning a big summer wedding," she said. "but I'm keeping it a secret!"
