OTRC: Emma Stone, Colin Firth to star in Woody Allen film

Emma Stone talks to OnTheRedCarpet.com at the Hollywood premiere of 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' at Westwood's Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles on June 28, 2012.

Could Emma Stone be the next "Annie Hall"?

The 24-year-old actress, known for her roles in "The Help," "Easy A," "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "The Amazing Spider-Man," will star alongside Colin Firth in a Woody Allen film, a rep for Allen told OTRC.com in a statement.

The film, which is set in southern France, will mark the first collaboration between Woody Allen and either Firth or Stone, who recently revealed her Twitter account was hacked. The production is currently untitled, and additional information on plot and casting has yet to be released.

The project will be Allen's second movie filmed in France. The first, "Midnight in Paris," received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2012, with additional nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Art Direction.

Allen -- an American actor, director and writer who has created over 40 films -- has shot seven movies in Europe to date, including "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" (Spain) and "To Rome With Love" (Italy). Other across-the-pond pictures include "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger," "Cassandra's Dream" and "Match Point," which were all set in London.

The 77-year-old filmmaker also has another upcoming movie, "Blue Jasmine," which is scheduled to be released on July 26. Starring Alec Baldwin and Cate Blanchett, the movie is set in Allen's hometown of New York, a city that served as both backdrop and muse for his classic works "Manhattan," "Hannah and Her Sisters" and "Annie Hall." According to a statement from Sony Pictures, "Blue Jasmine" is "the story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife."
