OTRC: Lindsay Lohan checks into rehab to begin 90-day stint, lawyer says

Lindsay Lohan wore a 'Game of Thrones' braided hairstyle at the 'Scary Movie 5' premiere in Los Angeles on April 11, 2013.

Lindsay Lohan has checked into a rehab facility to begin a 90-day court-ordered stint, handed down as part of a sentence for a 2012 car crash case.

However, it remains unclear whether a judge will accept her placement at the center, whose location was not revealed publicly, the Associated Press reported, quoting her lawyer Mark Heller as saying on May 2 that prosecutors have not approved it yet. One of them told the judge he needed more time to investigate the place and the judge has given him a May 10 deadline, the news wire said.

The actress was ordered in March to begin treatment for substance abuse and remain at a center for the entire duration of the sentence. If she leaves, she could face a probation violation and be sent to jail. Lohan is expected to spend her 27th birthday, which takes place on July 2, at the rehab center.

The actress has served five stints in jail in the past and has also undergone treatment for substance abuse at rehab facilities several times. As part of her current sentence, she is also ordered to complete 18 months of psychological counseling and 30 days of community labor. At a hearing on Thursday, she showed proof she has enrolled in related programs.

The "Mean Girls" star had in March pleaded no contest to charges of lying to cops, reckless driving and "willfully resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer in the course of their duties," stemming from a 2012 car accident on a Los Angeles highway.

She was also given a suspended sentence of 180 days in county jail, which means she would only have to serve that time if she is found to have violated her probation by not completing her sentence or by otherwise breaking any laws.
