Could the bachelor days be over for Leonardo DiCaprio, a Hollywood heartthrob and one of the most popular actors in the world?
The 38-year-old actor, who can be seen next as the title character in "The Great Gatsby" when it hits theaters on Friday, May 10, was asked about the possibility of giving up the single life and settling down and starting a family, in a recent interview with the TV show "Extra."
"I take it as it comes," he said. "We'll see what happens in the future. We'll see what happens. I don't try to determine what the future will be. I take it day by day."
In the past, DiCaprio has been linked romantically to the likes of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, Victoria's Secret model Victoria's Secret model Erin Heatheron, Israeli model Bar Rafaeli and "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively. It is unclear if he is currently dating anyone.
DiCaprio also told "Extra" that he may take an acting hiatus, saying: "To me, right now it's about getting a little breather -- getting some time off. Not a permanent break or not a ... it's an indefinite period, but you know, just a few months off to do some other things."
DiCaprio has talked about the possibility of marriage before. Check out 3 examples:
- September 2008 - DiCaprio, who was dating Refaeli at the time, told Parade magazine, regarding his past statements about having never been in love and not believing in marriage: "No, I don't agree with any of that. It sounds like the ignorance of youth to me. When did I say that? Three or four years ago? Hey, we grow up real fast."
"What I definitely feel a need for is to make my life about more than just my career," he added. "Just last night I was thinking to myself how little of my life has been lived normally and not spent on some far-off movie location. I want to get married and have children. In saying that, I realize I am contradicting everything I've said before. I absolutely believe in marriage."
October 2008 - DiCaprio told the Associated Press, when asked about the possibility of settling down and starting a family: "Ah, how do you answer something like that? So, um, I am being asked to look in the future I suppose quickly. No, I don't have any plan." July 2010 - DiCaprio told the TV show "Access Hollywood," when asked about settling down: "Someday, that's absolutely gonna happen. And I look forward to it."
