New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) and Aerosmith are set to perform in Boston, where the bands' members grew up, at a Boston Strong benefit concert to help those affected by the deadly Boston Marathon bombing.

They will be joined by other groups and artists from Massachusetts, including the Boston area:

  • Boston - rock band known for the 1976 hit "More Than a Feeling."
  • J. Geils Band - rock band known for the 1981 hit "Centerfold."
  • Extreme - rock band known for the 1991 acoustic ballad "More Than Words"
  • James Taylor - a five-time Grammy winner known for songs such as the 1971 hit "You've Got a Friend."
  • Comedian Dane Cook
  • Comedian Steven Wright
  • Other performers include:

  • Country star Jason Aldean, who is from Georgia
  • Rocker Jimmy Buffett, who is from Alabama.
  • Additional artists will be announced later, organizers said on Friday. The concert, which benefits One Fund Boston, takes place on May 30 at the TD Garden, the Boston arena where the Celtics NBA team plays. (Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. ET on May 6.)

NKOTB singer Joey McIntyre actually ran the Boston Marathon (pictured above), which took place on April 15. He passed the finish line minutes after two deadly explosions ripped through the area, killing three people and injuring more than 100.

"So blessed to be able to help," he said on Twitter on Friday, regarding the Boston Strong concert. "Come remember and celebrate with us!"
