Big Sunday event hits LA, supports needy organizations

LOS ANGELES

"There's a lot of forces in the world these days working overtime trying to divide us," said David Levinson, founder of Big Sunday. "I think most people really want to focus on what we have in common."

This weekend, thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds from all over California came together to help out non profits, schools and other agencies in need of help. Bingo and Bagels is just one event among the many.

About 40 people from local women's shelters and other organizations participated in the event, which featured prizes for bingo winners.

Big Sunday holds events all year round and anyone can participate. The nonprofit has grown from 300 volunteers when it started 15 years ago to nearly 1 million.

"Community is always important and Big Sunday is always giving back, it's all about giving back, and I really enjoy this," said Monica Maxwell.
