Shakira is opening up about her most important role yet: Mommy.
The 36-year-old singer, who is known for numerous hit songs and her signature dance moves, opened up about her new bundle of the joy at an event for "The Voice" in West Hollywood, Calif. The performer talked about her post-baby body after receiving a compliment from a reporter.
"I still have a long way to go," the singer told the Associated Press. "I still have a few pounds over to lose. I look decent."
The singer, who made her "Voice" debut as a judge and mentor in March, welcomed her first child, Milan Pique Mebarak, with boyfriend Gerard Pique in January.
"He's great," she said of her new baby. "He's so mellow, but he's very alert too. It's like he knows what's going on around him. He knows when someone comes in the room or comes out. He's something."
The "Hips Don't Lie" singer also talked about the tough task of juggling her personal and professional life, explaining that it's a part of motherhood, adding: "You got to figure it out as you go."
Shakira rose to fame in the 1990s with her first bilingual studio album, "Laundry Service," which featured singles "Whenever, Wherever" and "Objection (Tango)." Since then, the artist has released four studio albums, including her largely popular 2009 record "She Wolf."
These days, Shakira's focus is on her family. The talent competition's host, Carson Daly, talked about the NBC show's kid-friendly set.
"With Milan it's a full blown nursery!" Daly told AP, talking about the singer's double-wide trailer for her son. "It's just like Shakira's door opens and 'It's a Small World' starts playing. It's built for Milan. And it's really special and it's cool. We're like a little family."
The Colombian pop star joked that Milan isn't the only baby on set, however, adding: "It's like a kindergarten because these guys are already babies," she said of her fellow male judges. "They're babies!"
Since her new bundle of joy's delivery, the performer has shared photos of her son as a "guest judge" on the hugely popular singing competition.
"Clearly Milan's intrigued by this performance," she joked on Twitter, alongside a photo of herself holding Milan while sitting in her chair on the set of the show.
