Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev buried - police

BOSTON

Tsarnaev's body had been at Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors in Worcester, Mass. for a week. The facility's director said he could not find a community willing to take the body, including Cambridge, where the suspect's family had lived for 10 years. Tsarnaev's uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, had custody of the body.

Thursday, Worchester police said, "a courageous and compassionate individual came forward to provide the assistance needed to properly bury the deceased."

Meantime, Tsarnaev's widow Katherine Russell continues to face questions from federal authorities. She has added a criminal lawyer to her legal team with experience defending terrorism cases. New York attorney Joshua Dratel has represented a number of terrorism suspects in federal courts and military commissions.

An FBI spokeswoman wouldn't comment when asked whether Russell is cooperating. Her attorney Amato DeLuca has said Russell had no reason to suspect her husband and his brother in the deadly April 15 bombing.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, ethnic Chechen brothers from southern Russia and living in Massachusetts, are accused of planting two pressure-cooker bombs near the marathon finish line, killing three people and injuring approximately 260.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was captured hiding in a tarp-covered boat outside a house in a Boston suburb, was charged with using a weapon of mass destruction to kill. Their mother has said the charges against them are lies.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a gun battle with police. According to his death certificate, Tamerlan Tsarnaev died of gunshot wounds and blunt trauma to his head and torso. Police have said he ran out of ammunition before his younger brother dragged his body under a car while fleeing the scene.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, remains in a prison hospital. He faces a potential death sentence if convicted of the terrorism plot.
