Brush fire threatens Ladera Heights homes

LADERA HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES COUNTY

The fire broke out around 5 p.m. in hot, dry conditions. It burned four acres and threatened about a dozen homes before firefighters were able to knock it down. Several water-dropping helicopters also swooped in to help.

No homes burned and no one had to be evacuated. There were no reports of injuries.

It's still not clear what caused the fire, but Southern California Edison was called to investigate a problem with power lines in the area.

Homeowners commended the firefighters for their quick response.
