Bad news, Twihards. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are calling it quits, according to a new report.

Stewart, 23, and Pattinson, 27, have decided to split after more than three years of dating, according to a May 18 report by People magazine.

The outlet quotes an unnamed source as saying that while the two have called it quits, it wouldn't be surprising if the on-again-off-again pair got back together again.

The news comes as a surprise to many, considering the pair have been spotted seemingly going strong in recent months.

In New York, the pair were spotted together after the Met Gala -- and then flew back to Los Angeles together on May 8. They also recently celebrated Stewart's 23rd birthday together and held hands at Coachella.

On May 19, the outlet updated their report on the split, adding that another source has come forward and said there were signs that the pair's relationship was crumbling.

"They again went from spending every second together, to spending more time apart at their separate houses," a source told People. "Kristen has been in a terrible mood, and it was obvious that things were not great with Rob."

The announcement of the lovers' split comes following online reports that Pattinson ditched out on his 27th birthday plans, which were arranged by Stewart.

"It was very strange that they didn't celebrate Rob's birthday together," the source continued. "He had friends over at his house, but Kristen was not part of the celebration. For the past few days, they have not spent any time together."

The couple have largely kept news of their romance secret, not openly speaking about their relationship or appearing in public, aside from at red carpet events. In November 2012, Stewart explained that she likes to remain mum on her social life, telling the "Today" show: "Keep 'em guessing, I always say."

The "Twilight" co-stars hit a major bump in the road in July 2012, when Stewart admitted to cheating on Pattinson with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders. The actress issued a public apology to Pattinson for her "momentary indiscretion" and confessed her love to him, which led to the pair reuniting less than two months later, seemingly back to normal.
