Amanda Bynes is again making headlines for her actions on Twitter -- this time slamming a well-known celebrity.

The 27-year-old starlet, who was recently arrested after allegedly throwing a bong out of a window of an apartment building in front of police, took to the micro-blogging website to verbally attack Rihanna -- bringing up the singer's infamous 2009 abuse scandal involving Chris Brown.

"@rihanna Chris Brown beat you because you're not pretty enough," she posted in a deleted message on her Twitter account. E! Online has the screenshots of the original posts.

The actress went on to criticize the "Diamonds" performer, adding: "@rihanna no one wants to be your lover so you call everyone and their mother that I almost named my new dog Rihanna."

While the Tweets have since been deleted, Rihanna seemed to catch wind of Bynes' rant. The 25-year-old singer posted a cryptic message on her account moments after the "Easy A" actress' comments, which was not addressed to anyone in specific.

"Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?" Rihanna Tweeted.

While the singer didn't mention Bynes' Twitter handle in her Tweet, the actress took the message personally, posting: "@rihanna unlike ur fugly faced self I don't do drugs! U need the intervention dog! I met ur ugly face in person! U aren't pretty u know it!"

Bynes is no stranger to taking to social media to express her feelings about others. On May 1, the "Hairspray" actress traded Tweets with Jenny McCarthy, telling the 40-year-old TV host: "@JennyMcCarthy you're ugly! Police weren't at my house old lady! Shut the [expletive] up!" (Read more).

Amanda Bynes speaks out following arrest

On May 23, Bynes was arrested on suspicion of criminal pot possession, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence. Shortly following the arrest, the "Hairspray" actress said she does not do drugs and has "never had a bong" before.

The former child star and actress was arraigned in court on Friday, May 24. Her mug shot was obtained by the paparazzi and posted on several websites, including ABC News. The actress, who has in recent months worn a long, bleached blonde wig in public, sports a buzzed haircut.

"I only smoke tobacco I don't drink or do drugs. I've never had a bong in my life!" she told her some 1.1 million Twitter followers hours after she appeared in court, adding: "I need to get another nose job after seeing my mugshot! :D."

A police report obtained by OTRC.com stated that an employee who works in Bynes' building told police that the actress was rolling and lighting a joint in the lobby and that it smelled like pot. It adds that when cops arrived, Bynes was in her apartment and they spotted a bong, which she then threw it out of the window. They did not recover one from the sidewalk. Bynes is due to appear in court on July 9.

Bynes had also maintained her innocence in a DUI case that is still pending in her home city of Los Angeles. The actress moved to New York several months ago. Also in 2012, she was charged with driving with a suspended license. She pleaded no contest and was put on probation for three years.
