Universal Pictures' sixth installment of its muscle car franchise debuted with $98.5 million.
By the end of the Memorial Day weekend, it's estimated that the film will pull in $122.2 million. That would be the second-biggest opening of the year behind "Iron Man 3."
"The Hangover Part III" came in at No. 2 with $42.1 million. Sci-fi sequel "Star Trek: Into Darkness" came in third earning $38 million. The Fox animated film "Epic" and "Iron Man 3" rounded out the top five with $34.2 million.
