Michael Douglas plays Liberace and gets intimate with fellow Oscar winner Matt Damon, who stars as the famous pianist and vocalist's younger lover, Scott Thorson, in the new TV film "Behind The Candelabra."

The movie premiered on HBO on Sunday, May 26, at 9 p.m. ET in place of "Game of Thrones," which is on a Memorial Day Weekend hiatus.

The real Liberace, who died at age 67 in 1987, never revealed his sexual orientation and was also linked romantically to women. He once sued the UK tabloid The Mirror for suggesting he was gay. Thorson served as the entertainer's bodyguard and chauffeur and wrote about their relationship in his 1988 memoir, "Behind the Candelabra: My Life with Liberace." The HBO film is based on the book.

Damon had months ago told Playboy magazine [Warning: link contains explicit language] that the movie is "not going to be for everyone" and talked about his intimate scenes with Douglas. He described the actor as "a wonderful kisser."

The cable channel will air reruns of "Behind The Candelabra" on Monday, May 27 as well as on May 30, June 1, June 4, June 6 and June 9.
