Warning: Spoilers ahead! Season 4 of "Pretty Little Liars" is set to kick off on June 11, but it was not too long ago that fans last saw the liars (plus their frenemy Mona) staring into the trunk of Detective Wilden's car, which should have been at the bottom of a lake.
Fans have been left contemplating that cliffhanger, amongst other questions, for the last few months. Luckily, OTRC.com and "On The Red Carpet" TV host Rachel Smith talked to Janel Parrish, who plays Mona on the show, about what is in store for season 4 and some info on the spinoff "Ravenswood."
Check out 5 facts to know about "Pretty Little Liars" season 4 below:
1 . During season 4 you WILL find out who "Red Coat" is AND who was in the trunk
"You will find out what or who is in the trunk and, as the season unfolds, you will find out who red coat is," Parrish said. She later added, "It's going to be shocking."
As for when you'll find out what's in the trunk of Detective Wilden's car, Parrish said, "When we come back in the premiere we will start exactly where we left off, with us opening the trunk and finding out what's in it."
2. Aria tries to move on from Fitz
At the end of the last season, Aria broke things off with Ezra after he landed a job at teaching at Rosewood (her high school) again.
"Well as you saw in the finale they broke up. Fitz comes back to Rosewood as her teacher, so that's a little complicated, little reminiscent of season one," Parrish explained. "So now it's this forbidden love again and Aria will try to move on."
"There may be some new Rosewood hotties coming to town. You know, they'll be some juicy things going on there between Ezra and Aria and then maybe a third love interest," she added.
Parrish also teased that Ezra's baby mama and ex-girlfriend Maggie (played by "The Secret World of Alex Mack" and "Mad Men" actress Larisa Oleynik) is "not going away any time soon."
3. About those "new Rosewood hotties..."
Parrish teased, "There are some new Rosewood hotties this season, so the girls will definitely be happy. New abs, yes, new smiles, new dimples."
As for the identity of some of these new "hotties," Zap2It reported on Wednesday, May 29, that "Hollywood Heights" actor Wyatt Nash has been cast in the show as a character named Nigel. Nash is seen in a photo from the season 4 premiere linking arms with Tammin Sursok, who plays Jenna on the show, at a funeral.
TV Guide also reported back in March that "Vampire Diaries" and "Leverage" actor Sean Faris has been cast on the new season in a recurring role as state police officer Gabriel Holbrook. Faris' character will also make his first appearance during the season 4 premiere.
4. "Ravenswood" crossovers?
"Ravenswood" will take place in a town (called Ravenswood) close to the "Pretty Little Liars" town of Rosewood. Ravenswood has suffered under a deadly curse for generation and five strangers find themselves connected by the curse.
"It's coming out in October and it's going to be Tyler Blackburn, who plays Caleb. It's going to be his show and we're all very, very excited about it," Parrish said about the show. "I do know that our Halloween episode is going to be the start of 'Ravenswood' so a lot of our characters will be going to Ravenswood to visit and that'll start Caleb's story of Ravenswood. So, yeah there will definitely be a few crossovers."
"It will affect 'Pretty Little Liars' because, obviously, Caleb has to end up in this new town and in the Halloween episode, fans will see what happens," Parrish later added.
Parrish also said that she's become a bit of a fan of the show's now traditional Halloween special.
"I love that we've kind of made our Halloween specials, you know a thing. It's kind of become like a tradition now," she said. "It's really fun and it's always, you know, this spectacle with the costumes and something traumatic always happens. So I think it's a really, really fun thing to look forward to every year."
5. Mona joins the liars ... for now
"Mona is no longer A. She now is forced to join the girls even though they don't really like each other to figure out who this new A is," Parrish revealed.
"Mona is now forced into joining the Liars, that's why the tag for the poster is 'Liars Unite.' Whether they like it or not, they now need each other," she added. "Is she ultimately good or bad, that's the main question, but does she need to help the girls? Right now, yes."
Parrish also talked to OTRC.com about one of the things she found most shocking about the season 3 finale.
"I think the most shocking scenario of season 3 for Mona is finding out that this entire time she was not in fact in charge and she has no idea who this person is that she's apparently been working for," Parrish said. "She was used as a puppet and she thought that she was the puppet master. When I read the script, I was like, 'Wait, what? I don't know anything and I thought I knew everything and now I don't know anything at all.' And as an actress, even, I had no idea what was going on. I think that was probably the biggest shocker."
The new season of "Pretty Little Liars" premieres on June 11 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
