Bruno Mars has suffered a very unfortunate loss.
The 27-year old musician's mother, Bernadette Hernandez, died of a brain aneurysm on Saturday, May 30, according to CNN's website.
The Grammy-winning pop star's mother, who passed away in a hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, was 55 years old.
While the singer hasn't openly commented about his mother's passing, he has taken to his official Twitter account in the past to share his appreciation for his mom.
"Day 1 E-Cig, Gotta do it!!! This is for you mom," he posted in May, with a corresponding photo of himself holding an electronic cigarette.
The singer would frequently post about his mother on the micro-blogging platform, even referencing her in his excited Tweet about his second studio album, Unorthodox Jukebox, being certified platinum in March: "PLATINUM MOM!!"
In 2011, the singer's mother talked about about her son's success and his seven Grammy nominations, saying: "Bruno I am so so proud of you. I knew this was going to happen but not this extent. I still think of him as my baby and keep forgetting he is a grown man." (See video)
The "Locked Out of Heaven" singer, who is currently on tour to support the widely popular album, is set to resume his performances on June 22. It is not immediately clear whether the concert schedule will be affected by his mother's death.
The singers' sisters -- known collectively as girl group The Lylas -- also Tweeted about Hernandez, posting, "Our Everything," alongside a picture of the women with Hernandez (See photo below).
The four sisters -- Jaime Kailani, Tiara, Tahiti and Presley Hernandez -- are set to star in their own WE Tv reality series, "The Lylas," in the fall.
