Texas officers fired for beating up woman in station

JASPER, Texas

A woman was at the Jasper, Texas police station making a phone call to her mother to get money to pay unpaid traffic fines. An officer then cut off the call.

An argument ensued. Another officer intervened, and the woman's head was slammed on a countertop. She was then wrestled to the ground, handcuffed and dragged into a jail cell.

The Jasper City Council ordered the termination of both officers involved, and has asked the district attorney to investigate the officers for possible criminal charges.

The incident took place on May 5. The officers were fired Monday.
