Suspect killed in San Jacinto officer-involved shooting

SAN JACINTO, Calif.

The San Jacinto Police Department said they received multiple reports of a disturbance at the 300 block of South State Street just after 3 a.m. When respoinding officers arrived at the scene, they found the suspect assaulting a woman inside a trailer, according to police. Fearing for the woman's safety, one officer shot the suspect.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and his name is being witheld pending notification of family.

No officers were injured in the incident. The involved officer will be placed on paid leave following department policy, according to police.

Investigators from San Jacinto Police Department and the Riverside Sheriff's Homicide Unit arrived shortly after the shooting and have taken over the investigation, police said.
