Sea lion pup rescued from 5 Freeway onramp in San Diego

SAN DIEGO

The female pup was spotted on the Mission Bay Drive onramp to the southbound 5 Freeway around 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Animal control officers wrangled the pup into a vehicle just before 7 a.m. and took it to SeaWorld for an evaluation, authorities said.

SeaWorld officials said the same pup was rescued back in March from Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado. Malnourished and dehydrated, she was nursed back to health and released into the ocean in May.
