Police say 40-year-old Jeffrey Elvington uses popular online dating websites to meet women but he isn't out to steal their hearts, he's after their cash.
Investigators say Elvington, a resident of Saugus, contacted many women over the past two years, most of them from the Santa Clarita area.
He allegedly made up stories to make himself more desirable. For example, he pretended to be a chef to the stars and a military hero. He then allegedly scammed the women out of money, credit and personal property.
One victim snapped pictures of Elvington's uniform and posted them on "Guardian of Valor," a website that exposes people who pretend to have served in the military.
Elvington was most recently arrested on Tuesday but was released. He is facing burglary and grand theft charges.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
