OTRC: Justin Bieber books flight to space

Justin Bieber has conquered the world and now he's going to take on the universe -- the globally popular teen pop star has signed up for a trip to space, following in the footsteps of Leonardo DiCaprio and Ashton Kutcher.

Virgin Galactic, part of billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Group, hopes to launch its first commercial space flight in December and has already begun offering reservations to the general public -- at a minimum of $250,000 a ticket (more info here). During the suborbital flights, passengers can expect to experience five minutes of weightlessless.

"Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts," Branson Tweeted on Wednesday. "Congrats, see you up there!"

"@richardbranson @scooterbraun @virgingalactic let's shoot a music video in SPACE!! #nextLEVEL," Bieber replied.

Bieber was ranked No. 9 on Forbes' 2012 list of highest-paid musicians, raking in an estimated annual income of $55 million.

In early 2012, Kutcher became the 500th person to book a reservation on a space flight, while amfAR, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to AIDS research, last month auctioned off a pair of tickets to an unidentified bidder who will pay $1.5 million to fly alongside DiCaprio on a flight in 2014.
