Jane Lynch and her wife Lara Embry have decided to end their marriage after three years.
The 52-year-old "Glee" actress confirmed to People magazine on Monday, June 10, that she and Embry are getting a divorce.
"Lara and I have decided to end out marriage," Lynch said in a statement to the magazine. "This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter."
Lynch and Embry, 44, met in 2009 at a fundraiser where Embry was being honored. The two wed in a small ceremony in Sunderland, Massachusetts, in 2010. Same-sex marriage has been legal in that state since 2004. Embry has a child from a previous relationship.
Lynch is currently starring as Miss Hannigan on Broadway in "Annie: The Musical." She performed at the Tony Awards on Sunday. Lynch has not commented on the split outside of her statement to People magazine.
The actress won a Golden Globe award in 2011 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role on "Glee." She also won an Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the role in 2010.
