As of 7 p.m. Saturday, the blaze was 52 percent contained. Fire officials say 3,816 acres have burned, and nine people have been injured.
The fire was reported shortly before noon on June 9 near Hathaway Canyon and Morongo roads, east of the city of Banning.
There are no road closures or evacuations, though officials warn people near the Vivian Creek Trail may be impacted by the smoke.
Firefighters expect to contain the wildfire by June 25.
