Baby bath seats recalled due to drowning hazard

LOS ANGELES

The first recall involves approximately 34,000 Idea Baby Bath Seats. Buy Buy Baby is recalling the model because the bath seats failed to meet federal safety standards, including the requirements for stability. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the seats can tip over, posing a drowning risk to babies.

The products were sold at Buy Buy Baby, Bed Bath & Beyond and online at Buybuybaby.com between September 2012 and April 2013.

The recalled bath seats are designed for children 5 to 10 months old. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers were warned to stop using the seat and return it to the original store for a refund or credit. For more information, you can call Buy Buy Baby toll-free at (877) 328-9222 anytime or visit www.buybuybaby.com or www.bedbathandbeyond.com, then click on Safety and Recalls at the bottom of the homepage of either site.

The second recall affects 5,600 BeBeLove E-Zee Bath Seats. They were sold on Amazon.com and Overstock.com as well as other online retailers between May 2011 and November 2012.

Similar to the Idea Baby Bath Seats, the BeBeLove E-Zee Bath Seats also did not meet federal safety standards, including the requirements for stability. These seats can also tip over and pose the risk of drowning to babies.

The recalled bath seats are designed for children 5 to 10 months old. No injuries have been reported.
