Corona teacher sex case: She was set up by students, friend says

CORONA, Calif.

Summer Hansen, 31, is accused of having sex with a number of students at the school. Detectives said some of the alleged sex acts happened on campus.

"She was really nice, caring. She's a special-ed teacher," said student Juan Mendoza. "I was shocked about everything."

But not everyone believes the allegations.

"She's a phenomenal woman, a phenomenal mother, a wonderful wife. She loves her family, said Summer Norcia, one of Hansen's friends.

Norcia says Hansen thinks her Facebook account and cellphone were hacked by students at the school and that's how this all started.

"They were able to copy her SIM card and send inappropriate text messages as if it was from her to people in her contact list," said Norcia.

Norcia says Hansen thinks a parent saw one of the text messages and told the school. That's when the police got involved. On Thursday, they served a search warrant at her home and arrested her.

"In the best case scenario, she is cleared of all charges. Her career is over," said Norcia. "Her husband, her family, is heartbroken. Her kids have to go to school in the district and carry this. I think it's unfortunate."

The school district has placed Hansen on leave.

"Student safety is our top priority, and we're taking this situation very, very seriously, and we urge our students and parents to come forward and contact the Corona Police Department if they have any additional information related to this case," said Evita Gonzalez with the Corona-Norco Unified School District.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Corona police at (951) 279-3659.
