Kerry Washington of ABC's "Scandal" is married!
The 36-year-old actress, who plays Olivia Pope on the legal drama series, wed San Francisco 49ers player Nnamdi Asomugha, 31, last month in Blaine County, Idaho, a spokesperson at the country recorder's office confirmed to OTRC.com.
The Blaine County Recorder's Office said the two obtained a marriage license on June 24 and had it signed by Washington's parents, who were listed as witnesses, while Chisaraokwu Asomugha -- Nnamdi's sister -- performed the ceremony, according to ABC News.
A spokesperson for Washington declined to comment. ABC News added that the two have been dating for about a year.
This marks the first marriage for Washington, who was previously engaged to actor David Moscow, known for playing the younger version of Tom Hanks' character in the 1988 film "Big" and a sleazy music video director in the 2003 Jessica Alba movie "Honey." The couple broke up in March 2007 after two and a half years together.
Washington had said on Twitter on June 19 that she was "taking a tweet break" for a month but returned to the social network after a week, on June 26. She made no mention of a wedding. Washington tweeted on July 1 that she was " STILL on vacay & twitter hiatus." Her account has continued to show tweets throughout the week.
The actress had won the award for Best Actress at the 2013 BET Awards on Sunday (check out a full list of winners, PHOTOS of celebrities on the red carpet as well as pictures of the best moments from the show.
News about Washington's reported marriage comes a day before "Scandal" season 2 premieres in the United Kingdom. The finale aired in May in the United States.
Washington also made headlines earlier this week due to a sexy Vanity Fair cover (see below). She is the first black woman to grace the cover of the magazine since Beyonce did in 2005.
