Chrysler recalls cars, SUVs due to faulty head restraint

LOS ANGELES

The company says that micro-controllers in active head restraints could be faulty.

The head restraints are intended to prevent neck injuries in rear-end crashes.

Chrysler says so far, there have been no accidents or injuries related to the problem. Airbags and shoulder-restraint systems are not included in the recall.

The recall involves approximately 442,000 vehicles in the U.S., 25,000 in Canada and 10,000 in Mexico.

Owners with affected cars will be notified, and the company will fix the problem for free.

The vehicles affected by the recall are:

  • 2011 to 2013 Dodge Avengers
  • 2011 to 2012 Dodge Nitros
  • 2011 to 2013 Chrysler Sebring 200S
  • 2011 to 2013 jeep liberties
