A lawyer for Chris Brown entered a plea of not guilty on the singer's behalf to a hit-and-run charge, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City attorney's office told KABC Television, OTRC.com's parent company, on Tuesday, July 23.

Two criminal charges were initially filed against Brown on June 25 in connection to a car accident in Toluca Lake on May 21.

According to The Associated Press, Brown rear-ended a car stopped at a red light and reportedly refused to give the other driver his license or insurance information.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office dismissed the second charge, driving without a valid license, after Brown's attorney provided proof that Brown was licensed in Virginia.

The office also told KABC Television they dropped the failure to provide proof of insurance infraction after Brown's attorney proved the singer had insurance on the vehicle.

A hearing for the case is set for Aug. 15 at 8:30 a.m. PT.

The singer was on felony probation in connection to the 2009 beating of former girlfriend Rihanna. However, a judge revoked his probation last week and ordered a probation violation hearing after Brown was charged with the hit-and-run.
