OTRC: Royal baby's name is George Alexander Louis, palace officials announce

It's official! Prince William and his wife, Kate, have named their newborn son George Alexander Louis, palace officials announced in a statement on Wednesday, July 24.

According to the statement, the baby will be formally known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

William and Kate left the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital with their son yesterday.

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to her son on Monday at 4:24 p.m. GMT. The newborn weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces.

The new parents briefly spoke to reporters outside of the hospital. William joked his son was "quite heavy" and that "he's got her [Kate's] looks, thankfully." He also revealed that the two have not yet decided on a name.

When asked about the baby's hair, William said, "He's got way more than me, thank God."

Kate, formerly known as Kate Middleton, went into labor on July 22. The couple's son was born in the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital. It is the same hospital where William was born in 1982. Prince Harry was born at the hospital as well.

Kate and William married in a televised ceremony in April 2011. Her pregnancy was announced on Monday, December 3, by St James's Palace, who added that the duchess was admitted that afternoon to a London hospital to treat Hyperemesis Gravidarum.
