MTV announced on Instagram on Thursday, July 25, that Lady Gaga will take the stage and perform during the MTV Video Music Awards, which airs live from Brooklyn on Aug. 25.

The 27-year-old singer will perform the new single off her upcoming "ARTPOP" album at the awards show, which will mark one of her first public appearances since she had hip surgery in February.

She previously made a public appearance when she sang the national anthem at New York's Gay Pride in June. She had canceled the remaining 21 dates of her Born This Way tour in February after it was announced that she needed to undergo surgery to repair a hip injury.

It was announced on July 12 that Lady Gaga will release her new album, "ARTPOP," on Nov. 11.

The singer also recently topped Forbes' list of top-earning celebrities under the age of 30. According to the list, which was released on Monday, July 22. The 27-year-old singer reportedly earned $80 million between June 2012 and June 2013. The report notes that Lady Gaga would have likely made even more if she had been able to finish her Born This Way Tour.

Forbes reported that despite being cut short, the tour grossed $168 million. The business news outlet says it calculates the list, which excludes athletes, by talking to agents, managers, producers and other entertainment insiders to come up with their estimates.

The nominees for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards were announced earlier this month. Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead pack of nominees with six nominations each. Bruno Mars is up for four awards.

Fans can vote in general VMA categories like Video of the Year and Artist to Watch at vma.mtv.com.

The award ceremony will also be airing live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center for the first time ever on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. ET. Winners will be walking away with a limited edition KAWS Moonman, which was created exclusively for this year's award ceremony.
