Amanda Berry goes on stage with rapper Nelly in Cleveland

CLEVELAND

The rapper took the stage Saturday night at the daylong RoverFest concert in downtown Cleveland and introduced Berry. He later dedicated a song for her.

Wearing sunglasses and dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt, Berry smiled broadly while acknowledging the applause, but she didn't address the crowd.

It was the first time Berry was seen out in public since she, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight escaped the home of Ariel Castro on May 6. Berry kicked out part of a door and called to neighbors for help.

Berry's appearance came a day after Castro accepted a plea deal, which will put him in prison for the rest of his life.
