Kelly Clarkson rose to mainstream superstardom as the inaugural winner of 'American Idol' following its premiere on FOX in the summer of 2002. Consisting of its original judging panel of music producer Randy Jackson, singer and choreographer Paula Abdul and music mogul Simon Cowell, Clarkson earned rave reviews from the 'Idol' judges week-to-week before being crowned the show's first winner. Her first single 'A Moment Like This' became an instant hit nationwide and was followed by a string of hit albums, including 'Thankful' in 2003, 'Breakaway' in 2004, 'My December' in 2007, 'All I Ever Wanted' in 2009 and 'Stronger' in 2011. To date, Clarkson has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has notched numerous Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including 'Miss Independent,' 'Since U Been Gone,' 'Never Again,' 'My Life Would Suck Without You,' and 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You).' Clarkson released her first greatest hits compilation in 2012 titled 'Greatest Hits: Chapter One' and announced her engagement to Reba McEntire's step-son Brandon Blackstock at the year's end. In 2013, Clarkson sang 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee' at the Presidential Inauguration of President Barack Obama, challenged inaccuracies about aspects of her career as alleged in music executive Clive Davis' memoir and embarked on a nationwide co-headlining tour with the band Maroon 5.
