An Oxnard woman escaped an attempted carjacking in the city of Ventura Tuesday afternoon and police were seeking the two attempted robbery suspects.

At about 5:12 p.m., the 25-year-old woman was leaving work and walked across the street to the lot where her car was parked near the intersection of Cabrillo Drive and Main Street.

The woman noticed two men loitering near the entrance to the lot, according to police. She entered her car and locked the doors. As she buckled her seatbelt, one of the suspects began pulling on her door handle and ordered her out of the car. He displayed a handgun in his waistband.

The woman put the car into reverse and drove away unharmed. Police said the suspects were last seen running east.

Ventura police officers responded to the report of carjacking within minutes. They contacted the woman and canvassed the area but did not locate suspects.

The suspects were described as two white men between the ages of 17 and 25, standing 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 140-160 pounds, and each was clean-shaven. On suspect had blond hair combed forward and was wearing a gray sweatshirt. The other suspect had dark hair and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to call the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-4441.
