Lake Forest woman fatally stabbed at home; man arrested

LAKE FOREST, Calif.

Deputies responded to the scene just after 11 a.m. and discovered the body of a 66-year-old woman. Homicide detectives were called to the home on Blazewood near Portola and Alton parkways.

The woman was stabbed to death, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Dept.

Oscar Luis Morlett, 21, of Foothill Ranch, was detained at 11:45 a.m. Friday for questioning. Morlett was located approximately two miles from the residence, according to the sheriff's department. Morlett was transported to sheriff's headquarters in Santa Ana and was to be booked for murder, the department said.

They are talking to the deceased woman's family and interviewing neighbors and possible witnesses.

"It's crazy because nothing really happens in this neighborhood, so hearing about this today is a shocker to all of us," said neighbor Nikki Passerello.

Neighbors say Morlett is related to the victim.

"I heard they didn't have the best relationship in the household. I'm not positive on all that, but just rumors I've heard, there's tension in the household," said Passerello.

Authorities are not releasing much information about the victim or a possible motive for the crime. They said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
