Bee Fire: Firefight in Santa Clarita gains momentum

SANTA CLARITA, Calif.

As of Sunday morning, Angeles National Forest officials said the blaze had charred 100 acres and was 70 percent contained.

The fire ignited at about 5 p.m. Friday along San Francisquito Canyon Road near Los Angeles County Fire Camp 14.

Flames 50 to 60 feet high roared along the roadside. Aircraft hit the fire hard from above as crews worked to control the blaze from the ground.

Fire officials said one outbuilding was burned in the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The fire is burning near where the Powerhouse Fire broke out earlier this summer. That fire destroyed dozens of homes and outbuildings.
