Gia Allemand, who competed for Jake Pavelka's heart on season 14 of "The Bachelor," has died at age 29 following an "apparent suicide attempt," OTRC.com has learned.

The former reality star and model passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at a New Orleans hospital. It was previously announced that she was taken to the medical center after suffering a "serious emergency medical event."

"While in her [residence] in New Orleans on Monday night, Ms. Allemand was found by her boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt," the spokersperson said in a statement to OTRC.com. "Mr. Anderson contacted 911 and emergency medical crews were immediately dispatched to the scene. Tuesday, Ms. Allemand remained in the hospital unconscious in critical condition and on life support."

"Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today," the rep continued. "Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites."

"Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets," the rep added.

Ryan Anderson speaks out

Anderson issued a statement about Allemand hours following her rep's announcement.

"Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile," he said. "She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared."

Funeral arrangements are currently underway.

Allemand came in third place on "The Bachelor" in 2010 and later competed on the spinoff "Bachelor Pad."

"Bachelor stars posted messages of condolence on Twitter.

"I had to pull over, I can't stop crying. We have lost an angel," Pavelka tweeted.

"Gia you are my angel!" tweeted Vienna Girardi, who won "The Bachelor" season 14 but later split from Pavelka. "You changed so many lives with your beautiful soul and will be missed and loved forever."
